Welcome to the web pages of the Department of Supply Chain and Information Systems! I encourage you to explore our website to learn about our interdisciplinary areas, programmes and distinguished faculty. Since the inception of the department, it has been our objective to produce graduates who excel in the areas of Supply Chain Management and Information Systems; we also strive to accomplish research that makes significant contributions to the advancement of knowledge. We are dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and service.
In addition to teaching courses in supply chain and information systems, our department also teaches courses in statistics, quantitative methods, quantitative analysis, quantitative research methods and operations research. These courses enable our students to make intelligent decisions by being able to analyze information available to them using modern tools and technologies. We are very particular about these courses because more and more employers are seeking business professionals who possess quantitative and analytical skills and we want our students to be well equipped with such skills when they graduate.
In a recent tracer study conducted by an independent team on behalf of the College of Social Sciences, it was realized that 99 % of graduates from our department were all gainfully employed. Graduates in our Logistics and Supply Chain Management Programmes have found work as Purchasing and Procurement Managers, Logistics Officers, Operations Managers, Distribution Managers, Transportation Managers, Warehouse Mangers, Value Chain Analyst, Project Managers and Supply Managers. Successful graduates of our degree programmes in Information Systems have also found employment as IT and MIS officers, project managers, data analysts, systems analysts, application developers, database administrators, web administrators and network administrators.
Most of our lecturers have received PhD’s from premier universities and are actively involved in research and regularly publish their findings in academic and practitioner journals.
I hope you enjoy your visit to our website. Please contact the Department by telephone or contact me via email if you have any questions about our programmes.
