Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Logistics and Supply Chain Management provides a conceptual understanding of what a supply chain is and the various issues that must be considered when designing, planning, or operating a supply chain. The program identifies the goal of a supply chain and discuss the significance of supply chain decisions for the success of a firm. The program is designed to provide career focused students with the knowledge and practices of the modern business world to enhance the decision making and careers. The program provides several examples from different industries to emphasize the variety of supply chain issues and decisions that companies need to consider at the strategic, planning, and operational levels.
In the first year of the programme, students study carefully selected courses calculated to make them well-equipped with the requisite knowledge that makes them fit for every managerial position that comes their way after the programme. In the second year, of this specialization, students will learn Service Operations Management, Operations and Supply Chain Management, Logistics & Inventory Management and Procurement Management which are critical in modern Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
The goals and objectives of the MBA Logistics and Supply Chain Management programme are:
- To expose students to the goals of supply chain and explain the impact supply chain decisions have on the success of a firm.
- To expose students to contemporary challenges facing global and domestic supply chains.
- To equip students with the abilities to understand how firms/organizations integrate major logistics, marketing, procurement, production functions in order to compete as supply chain networks.
- To provide students with lean and Six Sigma concepts and their application to business operations.
- Develop students’ capacity to be able to apply the analytical methods and tools supporting data-driven decisions in supply chain.
Admission requirement for students to enroll on the MBA Logistics and Supply Chain Management programme is a first degree with least Second Class (Lower Division) from a recognized institution. Applicants must in addition have a thorough proficiency in written and spoken English. Candidates must demonstrate their ability to pay required fees and pass an entry examination to be conducted by KNUST School of Business.

All Master of Business Administration students undertake a six (6) credit hour research project that leads to a submitted thesis report that is orally defended by the student.
Teaching methods include but are not limited to Face to face-to-face lectures, hands-on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) techniques, case study illustrations, and practice-oriented virtual exercises using the KNUST Learning Management System (LMS) called the Virtual Classroom.
