BSc in Business Administration (Accounting Option) Programme
BSc in Business Administration (Banking and Finance Option) Programme
A candidate who wishes to apply for admission to a degree programme in Business Administration (Accounting Option/Banking and Finance Option) must have CREDITS in the THREE WASSCE/SSSCE Core Subjects (English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science), and CREDITS in THREE WASSCE/SSSCE Elective Subjects (General Arts, Science or Business with Administration, Economics and Accounting) or its equivalent relevant to the chosen programme with aggregate 24 or better (WASSCE: A1 ‐ C6/SSSCE A‐D).
NOTE, D7, E8 &F9 ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR ADMISSION PURPOSES.
Applicants holding General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE) or Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE) must in addition have passes in three core subjects at SSSCE as indicated under item (i) above.
Applicants holding Levels 1 and 2 of ACCA, or ICA, or Associate of Chartered Institute of Bankers ACIB) must, in addition have passes at SSSCE in three core subjects, as indicated under item (i) above.
Applicants holding Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting or Finance, may be admitted to the programme in year three, provided they have passes at SSSCE in three core subjects as indicated under item (i) above.
Mature applicants must be 25 years and above with credits in Five (GCE ‘O’ Level Subjects including English Language and Mathematics or passes in the core subjects, i.e., English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science, plus three elective subjects with an aggregate of 24 or better at the SSSCE. Short-listed applicants shall take an Entrance Examination and/or pass an interview.
- MSc in Finance
Prospective candidates for the MSc Finance should have obtained at least second-class lower division in the following relevant programmes from a recognized university.
- Holders of the BSc. Administration (Accounting Option); Bachelor of Business Administration (Banking and Finance Option); Bachelor of Commerce, International Business, BSc Actuarial Science, Business Analytics with Finance, Bachelor of Art Administration (Accounting and Economics), BSc Mathematics with Accounting, BSc Economics and Finance, BSc Actuarial Science with Finance, BSc Actuarial Science with Economics, BSc International Business, BSc Computer Science with Finance, and Bachelor of Education in Accounting.
MSc in Accounting and Finance
Admission requirements for students to enroll on the MSc. Accounting and Finance programme can be any of the following:
- Any degree with at least 2nd Class Lower Division with Part 1 or 2 qualified or fully qualified Certificate of the ACCA, CIMA, ICAG, ICAEW, CPA, CFA and similar accounting and finance professional qualifications.
- Holders of the BSc. Administration (Accounting Option), Bachelor of Art Administration (Accounting and Economics); Bachelor of Art Administration Bachelor of Business Administration (Mathematics with Accounting) and Bachelor of Commerce with at least second-class lower division from a recognized University.
- Holders of any relevant Accounting related undergraduate degree that is assessed to be acceptable by the National accreditation Board of Ghana.
MBA (Accounting Option)
Admission requirements for students to enroll on the MBA Accounting programme can be any of the following:
- Any degree with at least 2nd Class Lower Division with Part 1 or 2 qualified or fully qualified Certificate of the ACCA, CIMA, ICAG, ICAEW, CPA, CFA and similar accounting and finance professional qualifications.
- Holders of the BSc. Administration (Accounting Option), Bachelor of Art Administration (Accounting and Economics); Bachelor of Art Administration Bachelor of Business Administration (Mathematics with Accounting) and Bachelor of Commerce with at least second-class lower division from a recognized University.

MBA (Finance Option)
Prospective candidates for the MBA Finance should have obtained at least second-class lower division in the following relevant programmes from a recognized university.

Administration (Accounting Option); Bachelor of Business Administration (Banking and Finance Option); Bachelor of Commerce, International Business, BSc Actuarial Science, Business Analytics with Finance, Bachelor of Art Administration (Accounting and Economics), BSc Mathematics with Accounting, BSc Economics and Finance, BSc Actuarial Science with Finance, BSc Actuarial Science with Economics, BSc International Business, BSc Computer Science with Finance, and Bachelor of Education in Accounting.
MPHIL in Accounting
The minimum requirements for entry into the MPhil in Accounting programme is a first degree with Second Class Lower or better in Accounting related discipline from a recognized University or institution of higher learning

Indirect Entry into the MPhil Accounting Programme
The MPhil Accounting prospective candidates for the indirect entry route shall first be admitted onto the MSc. Acccounting and Finance programme to pursue the taught courses for one year and shall obtain at least a CWA of 70 in the taught component of the program. Candidates entering the taught component (MSc Accounting and Finance) should have obtained at least second-class lower division in the following relevant programs from a recognized university.
Holders of the BSc. Administration (Accounting Option); Bachelor of Business Administration (Banking and Finance Option); Bachelor of Commerce, International Business, Actuary Science, Business Analytics with Finance.
Holders of relevant undergraduate degree in management science from a recognized university, e.g. Bachelor of Art Administration (Accounting and Economics, Mathematics with Accounting, Economics and Finance, Actuarial Science with Finance, Actuarial Science with Economics, International Business, Computer Science with Finance,), and Bachelor of Education in Accounting.
Direct Entry into the MPhil Finance Program
Prospective candidates for the direct entry route into the MPhil Accounting programme shall have at least a CWA of 70 in a finance or management science related graduate program from a recognized university. The transcripts of such applicants will be reviewed to identified Core Accounting Course Gaps. Candidates with Gaps must be filled by taking these courses including Financial Econometrics on the MSc. Accounting and Finance programme.
Examples of graduate academic programmes for the direct entry are: MSc. Accounting and Finance; MSc. Accounting; MBA Accounting, MBA Accounting and Finance.
A holder of accounting professional certificate plus any of the academic graduate degrees listed above but does not have the core accounting courses on his/her graduate programme may be exempted from taking the core accounting courses on the MSc. Finance program. Such candidate shall however be required to take the course, Financial Econometrics. Specifically, the professional courses considered under this entry are: Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA), Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG), Certified and Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Global Management Accountants (CGMA).
Admission Interview
All prospective candidates entering either through the direct or indirect route shall attend and pass admission interview organize by the Department of Accounting and Finance.
MPHIL in Finance
The minimum requirements for entry into the MPhil Finance programme is first degree with Second Class lower or better in related business or management science discipline e.g. Accounting, Banking, Finance, Economics, from a recognized University or institution of higher learning.

Finance program. Such candidate shall however be required to take the course, Financial Econometrics. Specifically, the professional courses considered under this entry are: Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA), Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG), Certified and Financial Planner (CFP).
