David Asamoah

Prof. Asamoah has been a full time lecturer at the department Information Systems and Decision Sciences (ISDS) of the KNUST School of Business (KSB) for the past eight (8) years. He rose to become the Head of department from 2011-2013, and he also served another term in 2014 which ended in July 2016. Until his full time appointment at KNUST, Prof. Asamoah served as a part-time lecturer for 2-years at KSB, and he taught Management Information System (MIS) at the graduate level and Computers in Business at the undergraduate level.

Prof. Asamoah was a key player in the setting up several programmes in the Department, including the KNUST wing of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, the West Africa Institute for Supply Chain Leadership (WAISCL), World Cocoa Foundation (WCF) Agric Logistics Programme and the Public Procurement Authority (PPA)/KSB/ISDS Collaboration of running a Chartered Institute of Purchasing (CIPS) professional courses in KSB. He again chaired the committee responsible for the setting up of KSB Management Consulting Unit.

In the area of management consulting, being the former Managing Partner in charge of MIS/IT at Asamoah & Williams Consulting (AWC), David spent the greater part of his over 10 years working experience consulting for various Small and Micro enterprises, Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) and Rural Banks in Ghana, primarily in the areas of financial management, preparation of feasibility and business plans, evaluation and implementation of various microfinance software, the delivery of Business Development Services (BDS) and share valuation for financial institutions. Majority of David’s performed assignments were executed under contractual agreements with reputable financial agencies like the Consultative Group for Assisting the Poorest (CGAP) Information System Fund (IS Fund), Africa Project Development Facility (APDF), GTZ-Rural Finance Project, World Bank, Ministry of Finance-Ghana, Rural Financial Services Project and Ghana Microfinance Institutions Network (GHAMFIN). He is currently a professional member of the Institute of Operations Management (UK) and Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (Ghana).
