The world of academia is a scene of continued and progressive assessment that employs various and diverse tests to assess student capabilities and understanding. Examinations are platforms of evaluation that help education providers determine whether goals for the academic year have been met and to align the following academic year or semester in a manner that bolsters or manages students' academic assimilation, preparing them for the market.

The KNUST School of Business prides itself on the credibility of the market-driven examinations held at the end of the semester. Thus, it is a no-brainer that the highly esteemed Business Education provider would take measures to ensure, enhance, and strengthen the integrity of its examinations.

Amid the silence of students, focused on their respective roads of recollection of lessons taught and learnt, invigilators in the form of lecturers and examination officers employ every visual sense available to them, even technological ones.

The CCTV usage in the various KSB examination centers, helps bolster the trustworthiness of the KSB examinations as the cameras allow the invigilators the ability to see wide, see all and see clearly. They are able to monitor proceedings, quickly identify and handle misconduct among both the students and the supervisors themselves.

For each examination at the KSB, these CCTV cameras serve potentially as an object of fear and panic for students who devalue the essence of studies and academic hard work, while they ironically pose as a tool of efficiency and reliance to the examination invigilators. As the former dread these eyes, the latter sigh in relief of its availability.

“To uphold the integrity of the examination process, KSB's management has decisively implemented CCTV cameras in the Examination Halls. This proactive measure not only deters malpractice but also enables real-time monitoring by the chief invigilator and provides robust video footage to effectively address any allegations of cheating.” said Prof. K.O. Appiah, the Vice Dean of KSB, when asked about the importance of the CCTV usage in KSB Examinations.

Further expounding its usefulness, Prof K.O. spoke of how the KSB has stayed true to its sermon of integrity in examinations and the usage of technology in Business education.

“The introduction of these CCTV cameras reinforces KSB's unwavering commitment to its core values, including Leadership in Innovation and Technology, as well as a Culture of Excellence and Integrity.” he said.

For a lecturer or examination invigilator, having a recorded, visual proof of any examination misconduct, is a soft cushion to fall on, in times of investigation of said misconduct which in and of itself, poses as an acknowledgeable threat to the system of examination at the KSB. This reliance on videotapes is treated with utmost gratitude, considering what these visual recordings offer during an investigation.

KSB students, from Freshman to Final Years and even Postgraduates, are being faced with a demanding task of being better academically as much as the College does with them in practicality because of these cameras. The College, in installing and using these cameras, is calling students to become an even better version of themselves in Business education; whether in practice or in theory.

For these students, this mountain needs conquering and surpassing if they have hopes of becoming reputable and successful businessmen and businesswomen after graduating. Quite intriguing it is, to see how many shall live up to this fight and become better, shining in the business sector of both Ghana and the world.
