The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) proudly announces the election of Professor David Asamoah as the new Pro Vice-Chancellor. With a remarkable track record spanning 17 years at KNUST, Professor Asamoah has been a leading figure in the School of Business, currently serving as the Head of the Department of Supply Chain and Information Systems.
In the recent elections, Professor Asamoah received an impressive 436 out of 918 votes cast, demonstrating strong support from the university community. He was nominated for the position by the Vice-Chancellor, alongside Professor Charles Frimpong, who garnered 298 votes, and Professor Mrs. Michelle Korkor Essandor, who received 186 votes. This collaborative process highlights the shared commitment of the university to academic excellence and governance.
A Profile of Excellence
Professor Asamoah’s academic journey is marked by excellence and dedication. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, a Master’s degree in Business Administration, and a PhD in Logistics & Supply Chain Management, all from KNUST. His research interests include Supply Chain Management, Digital Transformation, and Sustainable Supply Chain Management, making significant contributions to notable journals such as the IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management and the International Journal of Logistics Management.
In addition to his scholarly work, Professor Asamoah is currently a Research Fellow and Senior Technical Advisor at the Centre for Applied Research and Innovation in Supply Chains – Africa (CARISCA), a USAID-sponsored initiative aimed at enhancing research and innovation in supply chain practices.
A Commitment to Leadership and Service
Professor Asamoah has demonstrated extensive leadership within KNUST, having served as Vice-Dean of the School of Business and as Head of Department, where he prioritized student satisfaction through innovative teaching methods and practical experiences. His commitment to academic growth has led him to supervise several Ph.D. students and facilitate professional development for his colleagues.
Beyond KNUST, Professor Asamoah's contributions extend nationally and internationally. He has held significant roles, including Deputy Chair of the Governing Council for the Institute of Project Management Professionals and serving as a panel assessor for accreditation processes across multiple institutions in Ghana.
