The 2025 KNUST Career Fair organised by the KNUST School of Business (KSB) with the KSB Career Services Office in collaboration with Jobberman Ghana, brought together hundreds of ambitious students and some of Ghana's most influential companies for a day of networking, discovery, and opportunity. Held at KSB Postgraduate building and The Great Hall on 5th and 6th June respectively, the event served as a bridge between academia and industry, creating a platform for students to explore future career paths and for companies to scout fresh talent.
The first day of the fair, the Skills Development Workshop, focused on equipping students with essential, in-demand skills that are increasingly valued in today’s job market. Key sessions were held on Entrepreneurship, SPSS Analysis, Digital Marketing, and Video Editing. These workshops aimed to help students embrace relevant, industry-driven skills that are critical in the digital age. Through hands-on interactions across the various skill divisions, participants gained exposure to the importance of teamwork, effective communication, and vocal confidence, especially when collaborating on projects. “He isn’t quiet because he has nothing to say, but because he needs to learn how to communicate with confidence,” paraphrased Maame Dentu, Career Strategist and Communications Lead, as she speaks on how students responded during interactive sessions. Her statement reinforces the core mission of the Career Fair team:
To create a space where students can build essential skills designed to elevate their knowledge and propel them toward growth and excellence.
The second day of the fair provided a more in-depth, interactive experience through one-on-one sessions with participating companies. Firms such as Puma Energy, Access Bank, and Media General set up booths to showcase their products, services, and opportunities, engaging students in meaningful conversations. This platform allowed students to explore internship prospects, while final-year students took the chance to inquire about National Service placements and job openings. The open and engaging environment empowered students to gain a deeper understanding of corporate communication and workplace expectations. For many, it was a rare and fulfilling opportunity to connect directly with their ‘dream’ companies. “Inquiring further about my application to Puma Energy gave me a sense of relief, knowing that my concerns are being acknowledged and that I am taking steps toward achieving my goals,” said Hamilton, a final-year Business student. Other students expressed their excitement and appreciation for the personal growth they experienced through the Career Fair. Benedicta Maku Ackwerh reflected on how the fair contributed significantly to her personal development, both as a participant and as a volunteer involved in organising the event. “It has truly accelerated my transformation in terms of confidence and career focus,” she shared. Meanwhile, Christabel Eklenam Tornyedzi highlighted the practical value of the SPSS training, noting that it would be immensely helpful for her final year research thesis. As KNUST continues to foster stronger links between students and the world of work, the 2025 Career Fair stands out as a crucial platform for growth, empowerment, and opportunity. With its holistic approach blending practical training with real-world engagement, the Fair has proven to be a stepping stone for students determined to carve out meaningful, impactful careers. The Fair has undoubtedly proven to be a valuable initiative, widely appreciated by the student body. It stands as a testament to the importance of creating practical, career-oriented experiences within academic spaces. With its growing impact, the Career Fair is expected to become a permanent and anticipated feature on the KNUST calendar. As students and companies alike look ahead, one question lingers in the minds of many: Which company will be the next to take the stage at the next KNUST Career Fair?
